Monday 16/10/23 The Desk and chair foundation – THE REUSABLE SANITARY PADS

On Monday 16/10/23 The Desk and chair foundation handed over to 525 girls students of Sangabuye secondary school in Mwanza region( Rural located area),
‘’ THE REUSABLE SANITARY PADS ‘’ that are manufactured in Mwanza in collaboration with Fursa Foundation a single mothers organization and TDCF

Before handing over these re usable pads the girls were given seminar on Menstrual Hygiene Management and Challenges they are Facing to access and afford sanitary pads conducted by Dr Idda Mihindi of Seketoure Hospital and many questions were answered to the satisfaction of the students. High population of
girls students are from rural and low income families where accessibility and affordability to menstrual products is a big challenges, as well as menstruation in our society is not an open discussion from family levels, These girls represent large group of girls and women facing the following challenges,High cost of sanitary pads which are also disposable ,missing of schools sessions during menstruation days( stay at home for 3-5days ) ,others they use alternative materials as sanitary pads such as rag clothes ,also some girls offering sex to get money to buy sanitary pads,All these are challenges that our community is facing right now.
These 525 boxes of reusable sanitary pads were kindly donated by THE BETA CHARITABLE TRUST OF UK
The students and school management we’re thankful and appreciative to the donors for this badly needed activity
