1,120 people now access clean, safe water every day

On 24th May 2024, the people of Kati Subvillage welcomed a new chapter of health, hope, and dignity with the official handover of Well No. 818—a shallow well generously donated by Masum G.B Mawji in loving memory of his maternal grandparents, the late Noormohamed Nasser and Zainab Bai Alibhai.

A Gift That Keeps Giving

Water is a basic human right—but for many, it is still a daily struggle. This well changes that reality, turning long walks and unsafe sources into safe, reliable, and nearby access to clean water. It means:

Better health for children and families

More time for education and work

Greater dignity, especially for women and elders

A safer, stronger, and more resilient community

More than a structure, this well is a symbol of shared humanity—of love expressed through action, and of remembrance that uplifts lives today and for generations to come.

Inspiring Collective Impact

This donation reflects values that unite all communities: compassion, remembrance, and the belief that helping others is one of the most powerful legacies we can leave behind.

As we work together toward Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation for All, this well serves as a reminder that ordinary people can create extraordinary change.

Whether you’re part of a faith-based group, a family, a company, or a global network—you too can make a difference.

Join the Movement

Let this story inspire you to give the gift of clean water. Every drop changes a life. Every well is a seed of hope.

Together, we can build a world where no one is left behind.

One well. One act of love. A lifetime of impact.

A Lifeline of Love and Legacy

Location:
Kati (A) Subvillage, Isunura Village
Mawindi Ward, Mbarali District, Mbeya Region

Families Benefiting Daily: 172

People Benefiting Daily: 1,032
Date of Handover: 24th May 2025

Dedicated with Love
This shallow well has been generously donated by Masum G.B. Mawji in loving memory of his maternal grandparents, Marhum Noormohamed Nasser and Marhuma Zainab Bai Alibhai, through the support and coordination of the Nudba Group of Toronto.

Inspired by Shia Teachings: A Legacy of Eternal Reward

In the spirit of Imam Ali (AS), who said:
“People are either your brothers in faith or your equals in humanity.”Nahjul Balagha

This well is a living embodiment of selfless giving and compassion. It follows the tradition of the Ahlul Bayt (AS), who emphasized service to humanity as an act of worship. Water, being one of the greatest gifts, is revered in Islam and especially in Shia teachings where the sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS) and his companions at Karbala, who were denied water, remains a timeless symbol of resilience and generosity.

Philanthropy Rooted in Faith

Philanthropy in Islam is not just charity—it’s a duty and an act of love. The Qur’an reminds us:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] that sprouts seven ears; in every ear a hundred grains.”— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261

This donation demonstrates the beautiful value of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity). Every drop of water that quenches thirst, nourishes crops, and supports health is a continuous blessing for the souls of Marhum Noormohamed and Marhuma Zainab Bai. May Allah (SWT) elevate their ranks in Jannah and reward them eternally—Ameen.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This project aligns directly with multiple United Nations SDGs, including:

Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water for all.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Clean water reduces disease and improves quality of life.
Goal 1: No Poverty – Reducing the burden of water collection and allowing families to focus on education and economic activities.
Goal 5: Gender Equality – Access to water reduces the daily workload for women and girls, giving them more time for education and leadership.

By building this well, we not only quench thirst, but uplift communities, especially in rural Tanzania where access to clean water is a daily challenge.
A CALL TO CONTINUED KINDNESS
Let this well be a beacon of inspiration to others. We invite you to join hands with the Desk and Chair Foundation, the Nudba Group, and generous donors like Masum G.B Mawji, to make a lasting impact. The legacy you create today through acts of giving will continue to serve generations to come in this world and the hereafter.

“When a human being dies, all of his deeds are terminated except for three: an ongoing charity, a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.” Prophet Muhammad (SAWW)

May the souls of Marhum Noormohamed Nasser and Marhuma Zainab Bai Alibhai find eternal peace, and may this noble act inspire many to follow in their footsteps. Ameen.

In the heart of Uzunguni Subvillage, nestled within Isunura Village of Mawindi Ward, Mbarali District, Mbeya Region, a new well now brings life, relief, and renewed hope to a community that once struggled with water scarcity. Well No. 822, now fully operational, serves 154 families daily touching the lives of over 924 individuals every single day.

May Allah (SWT) bless their souls with eternal peace, grant them a high station in Jannah, and accept this noble deed as a Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) on their behalf.
Ameen.

The Power of Thawab and Sadaqah Jariyah

In Shia tradition, acts of ongoing charity hold profound spiritual value. As the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) said:

“When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three:
Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”- (Sahih Muslim)
By providing clean water a most essential and sacred resource♡Dr. Shaukat Hussein has created a lasting legacy of barakah (blessing) for his late brothers. Each drop that quenches thirst, nurtures a child, or cleanses a body is counted in the scales of their thawab (divine reward).
A Day of Light and Hope: 16th Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 AH

The well was officially handed over to the community on 24th May 2025, corresponding to 16th Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 AH☆☆a sacred month in the Islamic calendar, traditionally associated with peace, rest, and preparation for Hajj. What better time to honor the lives of the departed than in a month of sacred reflection and spiritual elevation?
A Call to the Faithful

Water is life. And giving life is among the greatest acts of worship.

In a world where millions still suffer from water scarcity, this well stands as a shining example of how faith, remembrance, and generosity can change lives. Let the story of Well No. 822 inspire us all¤¤¤whether to sponsor a well, support a health clinic, or contribute to education and sustainability in vulnerable communities.

May Their Souls Be Blessed

We extend our prayers to the souls of Marhumeen Pyarali, Asgarali, and Amirali Nazarali. Through this well, their names will be remembered not just by their loved ones but by every family that drinks from its waters, every child that plays nearby, and every elder who prays with gratitude.

In this world and the hereafter, may they be honored.
Ameen Ya Rabbal ‘Alameen.

This life-giving source of clean water now benefits 220 families daily, serving approximately 1,540 people who had previously struggled with access to safe and reliable water.

This well was lovingly donated by Dr. Shaukat Hussein in blessed memory of his beloved Bhabhi Banubai Jaffer and his brother Mohamed Jaffer. “When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for them. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w)

This sacred act aligns deeply with the spirit of the Holy Qur’an, where Allah (SWT) promises:
“And whoever saves a life, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:32)

Their names will be remembered in the duas of villagers and in the whispers of grateful hearts.

On behalf of the beneficiaries and the wider community, we extend heartfelt prayers:

“May Allah (SWT) grant Banubai Jaffer and Mohamed Jaffer the highest stations in Jannah al-Firdaus, fill their graves with Noor, and continue to bless their souls with the thawab of this beautiful sadaqah. Ameen Ya Rabb al-Alameen.”

Let this generous donation be a shining example for others. In a world of fleeting wealth, the only true investment is what we give in the way of Allah.

May their legacy continue to inspire us all to dig deeper into our pockets, our compassion, and our faith.

Knowledge he taught and spread, a righteous child who prays for him, and a sadaqah jariyah whose benefit continues after him.”

Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
