In a powerful gesture of compassion and commitment to humanity, Care Aid Africa Foundation has once again extended its support to communities in need through the donation of Well No. 834, now serving thousands in Kagera Region.

Strategically located in Kibalama – Omulishenyi Subvillage, Rwagati Village, Kemondo Ward, Bukoba District Council, this newly constructed well was handed over on 25th May 2025. It is now a life-changing source of clean and safe water for over 600 families and approximately 2,400 people every single day.

They relied on distant or unsafe water sources, which posed serious health risks and consumed valuable time—especially for women and children. The donation of this well by Care Aid Africa Foundation has marked the beginning of a new chapter one defined by health, dignity, and opportunity.

“This well is not just a structure it is a gift of life and freedom. We sincerely thank Care Aid Africa Foundation for seeing us, valuing us, and responding to our needs,” said a local elder during the handover ceremony.

Empowering Through Water

The well has already started bringing significant improvements in the lives of the people:

Public Health: Reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases

Education: Allowing children more time to attend school

Women’s Empowerment: Freeing women from hours spent fetching water and enabling them to participate in income-generating activities

Community Development: Supporting local resilience and well-being

This impactful donation aligns with Tanzania’s development priorities and contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation for All.

Transforming Lives with Water: Care Aid Africa Foundation and The Desk and Chair Foundation Partner to Donate Well No. 833 in Kibarama, Kagera Region

Access to clean and safe water is a basic human right, yet it remains out of reach for millions across the globe. In a powerful act of compassion and collaboration, Care Aid Africa Foundation, in partnership with The Desk and Chair Foundation, has brought that right closer to home for hundreds of families in Kagera Region through the donation of Well No. 833.

Located in Kibarama Subvillage, Ruwagati Village, Kemondo Ward, within Bukoba District Council, this new water well was officially handed over on 25th May 2025. It now serves as a critical lifeline for the community, benefiting approximately 220 families and reaching over 1,400 people on a daily basis.

For years, residents of Kibarama and surrounding areas have faced immense challenges in accessing clean water. Women and children often walked long distances under the scorching sun, sometimes exposing themselves to unsafe water sources. With this new well, made possible through the partnership of Care Aid Africa Foundation and The Desk and Chair Foundation, those burdens have been significantly reduced.

“This well is more than just a water sourceit’s a symbol of hope, health, and dignity,” said a local community leader during the handover ceremony. “We are truly grateful to both organizations for making this dream a reality.”

Impact Beyond Water
The well’s impact extends far beyond hydration. It enhances public health by reducing waterborne diseases, improves school attendance by freeing children from long water-fetching journeys, and supports economic empowerment by allowing women to redirect their time and energy to income-generating activities.

This initiative also supports Tanzania’s national water and sanitation goals and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation for All.

A Model of Partnership and Purpose
The collaboration between Care Aid Africa Foundation and The Desk and Chair Foundation is a shining example of how partnerships can amplify impact. Their shared vision and dedication to community development have made a meaningful difference in the lives of the people of Kibarama.

Let this story serve as both inspiration and a call to action inviting more stakeholders, donors, and organizations to join hands in building a better, more equitable future.

Water as a Universal Right and Sacred Trust

Water is not just a basic necessity; it is a divine gift and an enduring symbol of mercy. Across all faiths and cultures, water represents life, purification, sustenance, and renewal. In Islam, especially within the Shia tradition, the act of providing water is considered among the most meritorious deeds. Imam Ali (a.s) stated: “The best form of charity is giving water to drink.”

On 8th Dhul Qa’dah 1446 AH—a sacred day in the Islamic calendar falling within the spiritual month honoring Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (a.s)—this shallow well was handed over to the people of Bukala. It now serves hundreds daily, reflecting the values of compassion, dignity, and continuity that transcend generations.
Commemorating Lives Through Acts of Eternal Value

This well stands as a waqf (charitable endowment) dedicated to the loving memory of five individuals whose legacies live on through the ripple effect of clean, life-saving water. Instead of being forgotten with time, their names are now etched into the daily lives of the families who use this water for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and agriculture.

By empowering a community with access to safe water, the donors and their families have fulfilled not only a social obligation but a profound spiritual legacy—one that offers thawab al-jariyah (ongoing reward) for generations to come.
Unity in Humanity: Serving Without Boundaries
Though this donation comes through the Shia tradition and the kind support of the Nudba Group of Toronto, the impact transcends religious or tribal affiliations. It is a reminder that our shared humanity and common values—kindness, equity, and social justice—are what bind us most meaningfully.

This water source is open to all: Christian, Muslim, believer, and non-believer; young, old, women, men, children, and the elderly; abled and differently abled. Access to clean water should never be a privilege—it is a human right. In this spirit, Well No. 825 symbolizes a bridge that connects people, not a wall that separates them.
A Model for Legal Philanthropy and Sustainable Development
This well also serves as a practical embodiment of legal philanthropy—an approach that aligns charitable giving with human rights, equity, and sustainability. It supports several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 1 & 2: No Poverty and Zero Hunger
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
By investing in accessible and community-owned infrastructure, this well encourages local empowerment, public health improvements, and gender equity, as fetching water is often a burden borne by women and girls.

Call to Action: Be the Reason for Someone’s Tomorrow♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
This is more than a well. It’s an invitation—a call to each one of us to reflect on what legacy we are creating.
Will we leave behind convenience, or compassion? Luxury, or life?

We invite individuals, families, and institutions—regardless of belief or background—to take part in this mission of shared humanity. Sponsor a well. Educate your community. Partner with us in creating access to dignity.
{“Whoever saves a life, it is as if he had saved all of mankind.” — Qur’an 5:32}

In Memory. In Service. In Unity.

May the souls of the honored departed rest in eternal peace, embraced by divine mercy. May this well be a source of blessing for them and a beacon of hope for the living.
