SHALLOW WELL NO. 839 A LEGACY OF COMPASSION, FAITH, AND SUSTAINABLE IMPACT
On 28th April 2025, the people of Lubaga Subvillage, Ng’hundya Village, Bungulwa Ward, Kwimba District, in Mwanza Region, received more than just water—they received hope, dignity, and a daily reminder that kindness knows no boundaries.
WELL NO. 839 was officially handed over to the community on this day, thanks to the generous donation made in loving memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Narandas Jina Somaiya and family, on behalf of their cherished grandchildren: Arya, Shivam, Krish Dhiren, and Sima Somaiya.
Impact at a Glance:
136 families now have reliable access to safe, clean water
952 individuals benefit daily from this life-giving resource
A Gift Rooted in Faith and Humanity
The well was handed over on 28th Safar, a day of deep spiritual significance in the Islamic calendar, especially among Shia Muslims. It marks the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — a prophet known for his boundless mercy, generosity, and advocacy for the vulnerable.
In Shia Islamic tradition, water holds sacred meaning. The tragedy of Karbala, where Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his family were denied water, continues to inspire acts of justice and compassion. To offer water, therefore, is not merely to meet a need it is to honor a sacred duty, uphold human dignity, and respond to injustice with mercy.
Contributing to Global Sustainable Development
This well is also a powerful contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Ensures access to safe water for all.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Reduces waterborne diseases.
Goal 5: Gender Equality – Eases the burden of water collection on women and girls.
Goals 1 & 2 : No Poverty & Zero Hunger : Supports household stability and food security.
This well is a model of how local action and personal compassion can contribute to global progress and environmental justice.
With Gratitude to Our Donors and Partners
We extend our deepest appreciation to the Somaiya family for their profound act of generosity. Your gift is more than a well it is a legacy that brings life, health, and hope to hundreds every single day. Your compassion will be remembered for generations.
We also recognize the ongoing support and collaboration of our partners, local leaders, and community members who made this project possible from planning to construction and handover.
A Call to Action: Be a Part of Something Bigger
There are still many villages where mothers walk for miles, children miss school to fetch water, and families live in daily uncertainty. But change is possible and it starts with you.
Whether you’re honoring a loved one, giving thanks, or investing in humanity’s future your donation can build a well, restore a life, and transform a community.
Join us in this mission . Let your legacy flow just like the water you give.
Donate. Partner. Transform
