EVENT 13: Joe Hogg ran the 96th Bay to Breakers Run in San Francisco. The run attracted around 70,000 entrants. From sea level at the Embarcadero the course rises steeply along Hayes Street Hill. Around the 2.5 mile mark runners climb an 11.5% grade between Fillmore and Steiner, bringing them to the highest point in the race, approximately 215 feet above sea level. The remainder of the course gradually flows alongside the Penhandle and through Golden Gate Park.

Joe faced a difficult start dodging the many fun runners and walkers who were there for the carnival atmosphere. He had to weave himself between Roman soldiers, Imperial Storm Troopers and many naked people! At Hayes St. Hill he had to tackle the tricky problem of the ‘Salmon Run’ - people dress up as fish and run purposefully in the wrong direction. All this in aid of Clean Running Water! Thank you Joe.
