Event 17: Mr Hasanain Rajabali and his colleagues organised the yearly Footie Tournament in memory of Zulkrnain a football mad boy who died in Birmingham at age of 14. The 2008 tournament featured 6 football teams and raised a total of £900 pounds. The funds were used to buy nine wheelchairs for disabled children.

Event 16: Dr. Joe Hogg has ran the 2008 London Marathon in aid of raising money for TDCF. The money raised will help clean water projects and the Medical Admissions Unit at Pinderfields General Hospital. Click here to sponsor Dr. Joe Hogg.

Event 15: Eleanor Dawson, Maisam Fazal, Imran Ali Kassam, Abbas Meghjee, Abul Kassim Meghjee, Muntazir Meghjee, Jane Meyer, Sanath Nanayakkara , Adam Spackman, Qureish Vanat and Mr M Taki Meghjee are planning to run the BUPA 10 mile Great South Run on 28th October 2007. Event 14: Anna Williams, a 5th year medical Student from Manchester University organised a 10 km walk round Grosmont in the North Yorshire Moors. The aim was to raise £1000 to build a shallow well to provide clean drinking water. 19 people participated in the walk.
RESULT: Well 57 was sponsored by Dr. Joanna Gordon and Dr. Olga Eyre who ran the BUPA Manchester 10km Run in 2007. Half of the funding was raised by Miss Anna Williams who organised a 10km walk round Grosmont in the North Yorshire Moors.

Event 13: Joe Hogg ran the 96th Bay to Breakers Run in San Francisco. The run attracted around 70,000 entrants. Joe faced a difficult start dodging the many fun runners and walkers who were there for the carnival atmosphere. All this in aid of Clean Running Water!

Event 12: Congratulations to all those who 'sweated it out' at the Manchester 10K run om May 20th 2007. It was a hot day with a carnival atmosphere. 28,000 runners participated!
RESULT: Well 49 was sponsored by friends and family members of Mr Haider Meghjee of Toronto, Canada who ran the BUPA 10km Manchester Run in 2007. To say thank you or 'asante sana' the villagers presented a chicken to Mr Sibtain 'Captain' Meghjee, a representative of TDCF.

RESULT: The 2007 'Running to Keep Clean Water Running' was a great success. Well 53 was donated by the family and friends of Mr Haider Meghjee who ran the 2007 Manchester BUPA 10km Run.

RESULT: Well 54 was sponsored by Mr Andrew Ramage, Mr Adam Spackman, Mrs Sarah Pearce and members of the PV Charity Fund who ran the BUPA 10Km Run in 2007. The villagers say 'asante sana' for all their effort and help.

RESULT: Well 56 was sponsored by Dr. Joe Hogg (London Marathon2008), Dr. Thirumaran and John Keogh (BUPA Manchester 10km 2007). This well was built in a small village school. TDCF sponsored the building of VIP toilets in the same school last year.

Event 11: On May 6th 2007, Joe Hogg, Adam Spackman, Muntazir Meghjee, Salim Meghjee and Naseem Sadiq participated in the BUPA Great Edinburgh 10k Run. During the 2 hour race the runners had to contend with heavy rain, sleet, sunshine and very strong winds! |

Event 11: On May 6th 2007, Cara Hutchison, Jennifer Howatson, Naseem Sadiq, Danielle Blackwood, Debbie Ratcliffe and Wendy Mitchell from the Graham Pharmacy, Glenrothes, Scotland ran the BUPA 10k Edinburgh Run in aid of the 'Running to Keep Clean Water Running' campaign.
RESULT: Over £1000 was raised by the runners of the BUPA 10km Edinburgh Run. The money was used to build well 48 in rural Tanzania. It was completed in February 2008. You can view pictures of Well 48 by clicking on the link below.

Event 10: In July 2006, a group of intrepid children (along with many, a fearless parent) from Leeds Madressa set out for the Yorkshire Dales. 30 kids, some no older than 8 years of age, abseiled down the magnificent Malham Cove - a mighty 150 foot vertical drop!
RESULT: £400 was raised for the Leeds Baab-Ul-Ilm. |

Event 9: Salim Meghjee ran/walked Hadrians wall in September 2006, which runs from Walls End to Burton in Solway. The total distance covered was 83 miles (he ran 36 miles and walked 47 miles).
RESULT OF EVENTS 8 & 9: £7481 was raised in these 2 events. The funds will be divided as follows:

EVENT 8: Drs Batin, Stanners, Craig and Gayle rode the Etape stage of Tour de France in August 2006. This was one of the hardest stages covering 116 miles. The doctors took the challenge once again to raise money for TDCF, the Paul Vincent Charity and raise money for a charitable hospital in India.
RESULT OF EVENTS 8 & 9: £7481 was raised in these 2 events. The funds will be divided as follows:

EVENT 7: John Keogh, Joe Hogg, Muntazir Meghjee and Salim Meghjee ran the BUPA 2006 Manchester 10 km race.
RESULT: £1,500 was raised and has been contributed towards building toilets and improving sanitation.

EVENT 6: Drs Vivek Baliga, Parry Blaxill, James McCreanor and physiotherapist Rachel Barber ran the BUPA 2006 Edinburgh 10 km race.
RESULT: £500 was raised and has been contributed towards building toilets and improving sanitation.

EVENT 5: Mrs. Arifa Bhamani, Mr. Rashid Bhamani, Mr. Shabbir Merali and Salim Meghjee climbed Ben Nevis in September 2005. The event was organized by UK Outdoor Pursuits which specialises in organising events such as this. You can visit their website at www.ukoutdoorpursuits.co.uk.
RESULT: Approximately £1000 has been raised in this event. |

EVENT 4: Doctors Batin, Craig, Gayle and Stanner’s rode the Pyrénées stage of Tour de France in July 2005.
RESULT: £1200 was raised. Part of the money has been used to build a well at Nyakabungo Primary School. The rest of the money was used to build a water tank at Bugarika Village Hospital.

EVENT 3: The Leeds Baab-Ul-Ilm Mosque organised a five a side football tournament at South Leeds Stadium in 2004.
RESULT: £600 was raised for TDCF. The money was used to build a shallow well in Ngudu in memory of Zulfikarnain, a 14 year old boy who was football mad! He died in Birmingham, UK.

EVENT 2: Haider and Salim Meghjee climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2003 and in process raised enough money for two wells.
RESULT: Wells at Mahina and Kayenze were built.

EVENT 1: In 2002, Salim Meghjee rode the UK coast to coast (176 miles) from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay. It took over 3 days.
RESULT: £400 was raised which bought vital equipment to start to build wells which would provide clean water. |
