Welcome to The Desk and Chair Foundation website, a charitable trust fully registered with the United Kingdom Charity Commission with a mission to provide Tanzanian communities with vocational education for needy children, access to clean water and other actions based on an intimate and thorough understanding of its social and cultural needs.

NEW Mrs Urmilaben Jobanputra and her family visit TDCF projects. They used to live in Mwanza. The party was very impressed with the TDCF set up and the work being carried out. Mrs Urmilaben donated a sewing machine to the sewing class.

NEW Gulam Meghjee and Tasneem Jaffer Meghjee visit Mwanza. Gulam was born in Mwanza but this is his first vist after 25 years. Both are huge supporters of TDCF.

NEW Mr Hasanain Rajabali and his colleagues organised the yearly Footie Tournament in memory of Zulkrnain a football mad boy who died in Birmingham at age of 14. The 2008 tournament featured 6 football teams and raised a total of £900 pounds. The funds wereused to buy 9 wheelchair for disabled children.

Agnes Jeremiah has got cerebral palsy. She has limited mobility Unfortuantely she could not go out of the house as she had to be carried by her father. Her Mum said, "With the help of the wheelchair, she will be free as a bird."

How You Can Help TDCF:
+ REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE: Nyanguge Hospital has asked TDCF to raise funds for vital equipment and general supplies such as mattresses and curtains. £500 will furnish this small hospital and will make it possible for patients to sleep in beds with matresses. If you can help please contact us.

  REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE: An orphanage in Pasiansi, a few miles outside of Mwanza City, have asked for our help. £60/$100 will provide food for one month. If you can help please contact us for further information.

To make sure that all the donations (100%) given to the charity are used as per intended, members of Ladha Meghjee family underwrite all of the following:

  • Direct salary of personnel employed by the Desk and Chair Foundation.
  • All administration expenses occurred in United Kingdom including website maintenance costs.
  • All administration and running costs in Tanzania, including buying and maintenance of a four wheel drive car.
  • All bank charges incurred in running the TD&CF account and charges levied by bank in transferring funds to Tanzania.
