Well 64 was handed over to the residents of Nyashishi village on 31st December 2008

100 trees have been planted in a special plot at the Bilal Muslim Mission, Mwanza City

The money raised from the 2008 Manchester 10km run resulted in well 63 being built.

Welcome to The Desk and Chair Foundation website, a charitable trust fully registered with the United Kingdom Charity Commission with a mission to provide Tanzanian communities with vocational education for needy children, access to clean water and other actions based on an intimate and thorough understanding of its social and cultural needs.

+ NEW TDCF participated in the 2009 Worlds AIDs week.  Events like this help to stabilise HIV rates in the developing world.

+ NEW TDCF has handed over 30 chairs and 30 tables to the Agape Day Care Centre in Capri Point. The children at this centre were sitting on stones before receiving this assistance.

+ NEW The money for the building of well 70 was raised by those who ran the 2009 Manchester 10km Run. TDCF would like to thank all those who participated.

+ Well 69 is sponsored by Mr Kushroo Fazal.  It is located in a small village in Ngudu, Mwanza.  The villagers have said a BIG THANK YOU - asante sana to Mr Fazal and his family.

+ Well 67 was renovated by TDCF on August 15 2009. A new rope pump was also installed - this was made possible by a generous donation from Mr Sakalain Hirji and his family.

How You Can Help TDCF:
+ REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE: TDCF has received a number of requests for help. We need donations for one artificial leg and four tricycles. One tricycle costs around £90.  If you can help, please contact us. Thank you.

+ REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE: Nyanguge Hospital has asked TDCF to raise funds for vital equipment and general supplies such as mattresses and curtains. £500 will furnish this small hospital and will make it possible for patients to sleep in beds with matresses. If you can help please contact us.

+ REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE: An orphanage in Pasiansi, a few miles outside of Mwanza City, have asked for our help. £60/$100 will provide food for one month. If you can help please contact us for further information.

To make sure that all the donations (100%) given to the charity are used as per intended, members of Ladha Meghjee family underwrite all of the following:

  • Direct salary of personnel employed by the Desk and Chair Foundation.
  • All administration expenses occurred in United Kingdom including website maintenance costs.
  • All administration and running costs in Tanzania, including buying and maintenance of a four wheel drive car.
  • All bank charges incurred in running the TD&CF account and charges levied by bank in transferring funds to Tanzania.
